Review of Friday the 13th (2009) by Heather N — 16 Jan 2012
Oh dear oh dear... The odd pretty shot aside, this is a truly awful attempt to rejuvinate the series. A harshly meshed plot of the first few movies crammed together into a plot worthy of maybe part 5 or 7? Here's some kids, They are all thinly developed, and clothed! And most of them get picked off in really unscary and ungory fashion. What were they thinking? (the film makers that is).
And how come the main set of youngsters are made up of 6 people who you would not see anywhere hanging out with each other? A rich guy, a nerd, a stoner, a hussey etc etc... Hmmm. We are supposed to believe these people hang out on a regular basis. er.. No.
The new Jason seems to be a faster mover, but they don't really make much use of this... ...Funny enough the last couple of times Jason was interesting was in the Hammy freddy Vs Jason and even the Sci-Fi part X installment.
It's like Reimagining without the imagination. And what is with the ending? Bad guy defeated, Several dead bodies (including a copper) what do they do? They decide in their infinite wisdom to dump the body in the lake? Like "Call the cops!!!" Let them clean up the mess.. Plus it may be handy to have your killers body handy when explaining all the dead people?
No. Much better to dump the body so the producers can have another one last jason leaping from the grave , yawn, surprise at the end.
