Review of Friday the 13th (2009) by John R — 04 Feb 2012

This is like the 12th Friday the 13th movie, I think. Actually this is a reboot of the whole series, but it fails for a number of reasons. Let's face it, the Friday the 13th movies haven't been classic cinema, but some of them are still entertaining.

The movie takes all the fun out of the previous movies and just makes it a sub par slasher film. It's going through the motions. There were no inventive kills and the atmosphere wasn't creepy enough.

I did like how they incorporated plot elements of the first three movies, but that wasn't enough to save the movie. In addition, it just wasn't as scary as other Friday the 13ths. This Friday the 13th wasn't the worst of the bunch, which is not really saying much.

However, it still could have been done better. Slasher movies can be very entertaining, if done right. Pass on this one and get the original instead.
