Review of Friday the 13th (2009) by Stephen H — 21 Mar 2012

Though the word remake surfaces in regards to this film, it doesn't well describe it. The first four minutes is the only resemblance to the original Friday and we have to see it chopped up and thrown between opening credits.

However, the film does succeed in some scary scenes it doesn't manage to bring the word remake to my mind. I have to admit that labeling it as a remake was smart on the filmmakers' part because if it was labeled as another sequel it would've done much worse in the theaters (I mean hello, "Jason X", yeah right).

At least the writing was good and the performances were well but if you are looking for a good remake, then start making one because this doesn't cover it.
