Review of Friday the 13th (2009) by Luc L — 29 Aug 2012
This so-called remake is the best looking movie of the franchise but visual style are not everything to a movie, sadly. Certainly not a slasher movie like this. The script is the biggest problem here, by the two same writers, who wrote the amusing "Freddy vs.
Jason". There is things that Jason won't do, like kidnapping someone who likes like his mother!. But the worst thing here are most the young cast members, they are boring as hell. Expect for Yoo, Righetti, Panabaker and Guill as the sexpot in the movie.
Mears did a good job playing Jason. Interesting, there is very little use of Jason's theme music from the original series as well. Even Michael Bay as one of the producers of this movie hated it too.
Some of the kills are good but it feels like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movie than a "Friday the 13th". Since it is most of the same production crew and director, who did the 2003 version.
Which that was a little better than this movie. Even "Friday" fans were disappointed with this one. One of the least effective of the series. Watchable but no cigar. The extended "Killer Cut" version is a slightly better version than the R-Rated cut.
