Review of Friday the 13th (2009) by James W — 27 Apr 2013
Friday The 13th could well achieve the award for most predictable and sex laden horror of the year. Yet it's possibly the most deliciously gory and enjoyable slasher for years. I found it so enjoyable because you know what's going to happen and who's going to die and how, but you are still on edge! When Jason butchers each helpless sex starved character you cringe with shock.
After it ended I was trying to choose which was the best death, so gruesomely inventive. The best bit was the death of Trent who is a rich teenager and frankly a bit of an asshole, his death was pleasure.
Bringing back Jason must've been tough, trying to recapture the bloodthirsty maniac he was back in the original, he's come back on great form, I love it when he finds the mask and places it on his face making it his own.
Plenty of heart pounding shocks but lacking atmosphere at times, Friday The 13th delivers all the gore you could want, and if you find the characters poor and annoying, it's entertaining watching them die.
