Pretty faithful reboot, sticks reliably to the formula. The new Jason is more lithe than Kane Hodder's stiff robo-killer, and there's an attempt to give him some basic emotional content, which all works well.

Jason is best when he's a kind of crusader, killing off every poorly-acted one-dimensional movie character that has the misfortune to stumble upon Camp Crystal Lake; there's no shortage of nitwits here, so it's easy to root for Jason.

But the filmmakers have abandoned creativity in his killings, probably in an attempt to move away from the camp of recent entries - we lose a lot of the fun that way, and it becomes just another gory movie.
