Review of Friday the 13th (2009) by Harvey D — 28 Oct 2011
This new "Friday the 13th" film is extremely cliched. There's a killer outside, so everyone splits up. Goes outside alone. The phone is dead. All of those. Jared Padalecki gives a good performance as Clay, a guy looking for sister (played by the also impressive Amanda Righetti), who was captured by Jason weeks before.
Derek Mears, a stunt actor, plays Jason. And he is the hightlight of this movie. The way he looks, the way he moves, the way he doesn't speak is all extremely chilling. Danielle Panabaker is also in this movie, playing Jenna, one of many useless characters.
Except Panabaker can actually act. Overall, despite the poor acting, the cut-short suspence, and the cliches, this new Friday the 13th is still bloody and fun. But not that fun. C.
