Review of Friday Night Lights (2004) by Gage E — 30 Aug 2011
Underrated as one of great sports movies ever, "Friday Night Lights" succeeds on two levels: gives you great action sequences on the field and believable characters off of it. For one, it beautifully juxtaposes the joy and pain of the feverish support for a local football team in a small town that offers no escape.
On the other hand, it also contains some of the hardest-hitting football action ever committed to film. Throw some strong, in-your-face performances into the mix and you've got one of the best movies of the last ten years.
