Review of Friday (1995) by Acidworm — 03 Sep 2022

I don't understand the popularity of this movie. There isn't much that happens, just a couple lazy dudes who sit on their porch in Compton all day, and the whole movie is over a single Friday. Both Chris Tucker, and Ice Cube's characters I found to be pretty unlikeable, especially Chris Tucker's.

Thankfully he doesn't act as over the top and obnoxious as he usually does. Guys and girls with colorful personalities they know keep stopping by and there are some humorous interactions with the characters, but a lot of the jokes fall flat for me, and are just immature.

John Witherspoon whom plays Ice Cube's father is the highlight of the movie for me and puts on a great performance, but nothing else really stands out for me. Worth a watch for a few laughs, but I found it pretty lame overall.
