Review of Frida (2002) by Carly R — 17 Sep 2009
I loved the camera work, the angles, aesthetically it was wonderful. But I hated how they had so many big names in it. Salma Hayek, Alfred Molina, and Geoffry Rush were amazing. But Antonio Banderas and Edward Norton served no point except to be there.
Ashley Judd was HORRIFIC. She's no femme fatale and that was who Tina Modotti was. Terribly cast. Unknowns would have served much better. Too many big names in a movie is like having all suns in a solar system, they don't gravitate around each other, they only demand attention.
