What time travel movies bring is what ifs and time changes that affect the future. From Back To The Future to a more present movie, Hot Tub Time Machine, these movies showed the consequences and values of changing the very fabric of time.

Before being questioned about if this was my very first time travel movie, it isnt, so I know almost every paradox, consequental changes, and the results from the future in films. Thanks to a recomendation from my mom who enjoyed the movie even better the second time I can say that this isnt just any other time travel movie, in fact its one of them that stretches far from the formlaic originals that made up time travel movies.

John Sullivan's(James Cavaiazel) life turns upside down when his father,Frank Sulivan(Dennis Quai), died in the line of duty as a firemen as a child. This drastically changed his life that is far from perfect.

Now at age 36, an alignment of the Northern Lights causes a time warp where John is capable of talking to his father from his ham radio, which then creates twists and turns from the past, to John's present.

The way the movie ortrays from future to present and vice versa is very balanced and never over done and I enjoyed each little special effect that popped at the right times in the film. The performacnes were incredibly well done and the dialouge never seemed repetetive or over used.

Many of the supporting characters such as John's best friend, Gordo(Noah Emmerich), and long time cop Satch(Andre Braugher), never become completley overdone in their role, however whenever they came in, they came in at times to show the changes that have been done by John and Frank.

The chemistry also worked well between John and Frank, and every time they both spoke to each other on the radio, I get these emotions of sadness, joy, and laughter as they both communicate in a way that feels real.

The cast is amazing, the script is pure gold, each transition from each time worked, and every twist and turn became an addiction as I continued to watch the next scene in excitement. If I were to have a list of time travel movies, I would put this at the top because of how it adds the time travel movie with a twist of drama you would find in cop movies and suspense in action movies.

I fully recommend it!!
