Review of Frequency (2000) by Jay L — 01 Jun 2011
"I'm still here chief.".
An ingenius film with an astonishing concept that was put together perfectly by Director Gregory Hoblit (Primal Fear, Fallen). Frequency is a first rate thriller, the catch is that it's unlike any other thriller you've seen. It's a time-bending psychological thrill-ride that grabs you from the first scene and keeps you guessing throughout. Frequency is packed with imagination and originality, a truly great story that's engaging and wonderous to watch. The past and the present meet in a mysterious act of nature where a radio frequency is established and connects the years 1969 to 1999, and communication is established between the two years over the radio. An awesome concept that blew my mind. So if we ever find a way to change the past, will there be a ripple effect into events of the future? You be the judge, Gregory Hoblit and company say yes, and that's what makes this film so jaw-droppingly fun to watch. A top-notch murder-mystery thriller that's jampacked with so much suspense and interesting concepts you won't be able to pull your head away from screen.
Jim Caveizel and Dennis Quaid give electrifying (pun intended) performances, both are completely convincing and do an excellent job all of the way through. Andre Braugher and Noah Emmerich are great as well. Awesome film very highly recommended.
