Review of Frenzy (2015) by Dawn J — 24 Sep 2009
It is strange seeing a film which is distinctly Hitchcock, but made in the seventies. It does feel slightly wrong, but the suspense and thrills are still there. The story is classic man wrongfully accused stuff, but Hitchcock was able to use the technology and standards of the time to make it unique.
There has always been some nasty content in his work, but here he is able to really exploit the nastiness to great effect. The sequence with the killer in the back of the truck could stand as one of his best.
