Review of Freebie and the Bean (1974) by Matthew S — 04 Jun 2007
Alan Arkin and James Caan are both amazingly good in this bizarre but awesome proto-buddy cop comedy. Jam packed with political incorrectness (there's even a racial slur in the title! Who loves the 70s?) and smash-em-up car chases, Freebie and the Bean might just be one of the best cop comedies ever.
And apparently, Stanley Kubrick called this "the best movie of the year" when it was released in '74. You can't ask for a better endorsement.
