Review of Free State of Jones (2016) by Nick O — 05 Nov 2016
I think every review has missed the point on this. The story starts out to show us the war and soldiers desertion of unfair mistreatment that occurred to their families and neighbors while they fought for the Confederates side.
It then pursues to show us the POLITICS of both sides. Yes Mathew Macaugnahay, I don't how to spell his name unfortunately, plays a pivotal roll, but it was Moses that saved him!!!! I think the critics that didn't like this expose themselves for who they are.
Moving on, further down the story we see that it was the Democrats of the South killing black Republicans before and after they voted. The important thing they left out on this is the Enforcement Law of 1871.
Which stopped KKK members from killing blacks in the south. Later the ending gives us an A Time to Kill twist by showing us that there is still a place in this world where a white man from black decent could not marry a white woman because of laws of Segregation in the south.
Much like the Okies of the dust bowl that were treated like blacks in California. Certain boundaries are made to prevent help to those that need it, and in life everyone is responsible for respecting one another or the system will go sour.
This a good movie suppressed by democrat propaganda that stole the republican ideals and turned them against us.
