Saving Private Ryan type of shock at beginning with young lives lost to the whim of those with power and influence. McConaughey's character sees slavery for what it truly was and leads a group of Freedoms to create the Revolutionary State only to witness the influence of $$$ in search of Fitzgerald's American Dream.

At mid-point the plot line stretched out to a CRAWL in an attemp to cover decades to the reality of the return of the Gentry to control the future of the Ole South.
