Review of Free State of Jones (2016) by Karina S — 25 Jun 2016
Excellent movie, very well researched and portrayed. Many of the same incidents shown in the movie happened all over the South. While Southern men fought in the war, their familes were robbed of their crops & animals, often taking everything.
The planter class, instead of producing extra food to feed it's soldiers, resorted to planting extra cotton to reap greater profits. Thousands of Southern men realized the war would only benifit the wealthy - the planter class.
(interesting as now, instead of cotton, countries go to war over oil).
