Good movie and great acting by Matthew McConahey. It's a hard story to watch at times and the movie is rather long. It's a documentary and also a love story of the plight of Civil War era African Americans and the collaborative fight of Newton Knight for his self determination and of all men.
It's sad and utterly shameful that this fight in the US went on for too long as we all know. What a great story of love, bravery, faith, and our very sad period of history.
