Wow, a very powerful story about a 'rebel' who risked his life not only on the battlefield but, more precariously, on the run from all comers in the deep south of Mississippi. He stands up to the evil around him, and his bravery amidst violence and terror was inspiring.
It is moving; I left with that same sense of guilt at this horrendous part of our American history as with other movies of this time that don't hide it (Django, Cold Mountain, etc.) McConaughey is superb.
