Criminally underrated comedy barely got a theatrical release, but has picked up a minor cult following on video and is a must-see for "Star Trek" fans and film geeks in general. There's very little plot to speak of, but never before has a film done a better job at portraying the often painful ordeal of balancing a relationship with interests and hobbies that one is very passionate about.

A good showcase for a pre-"Will and Grace" Eric McCormack and a great performance by William Shatner as himself; he balked at the way the original script to portrayed him as a perfect hero, and commendably demanded that the filmmakers showcase him as a flawed, insecure, three-dimensional person who even makes his most devoted fans question his sanity at times.
