Review of Free Birds (2013) by Movie K — 19 Jun 2014

Average animation. Could have make it more compact and more jokes. Reggie (Owen Wilson) is a turkey who never fit in, try to warn the other turkeys they are been fed to be on the meal table but are just too dumb to believe him.

He is been push out to sacrifice and luckily the US president's daughter choose Reggie to be pardoned. He live a luxury life, eating pizza and watching TV. Then he is kidnap by Jake (Woody Harrelson) of Turkey Freedom Front (TFF) to recruit him for a mission.

They enter a secret base to find a time machine. Mission is to go back and prevent Thanksgiving serving turkey. Jake is really kind of dumb as well. The president is sending one chrononaut to test the time machine.

Reggie and Jake are running from the agents and enter the time machine STEVE (George Takei) while the chrononaut gets out. They go back to the first Thanksgiving in 1621. A menacing Standish (Colm Meaney) almost kill Reggie but is save by Jenny (Amy Poehler) and gang of turkey led by Ranger (Jimmy Hayward).

Governor Bradford (Dan Fogler) keep all the food and want to make peace with the Indians but the folks are all hungry. Standish caught 2 turkeys and bring back. Jake tell the turkeys he want to save them from Thanksgiving.

The leader Broadbeak (Keith David) says they are force to live underground ever since the human came. He encourage defend not attack. The turkeys of the past are hardworking and smarter. Standish know the turkey are leading them away from something.

Jake and Ranger are always fighting bravery. Jenny bring Reggie to disamr the hunters trap and chase by dogs. Reggie bring her to hide in STEVE and escape from Standish. Jenny now believe he is from future.

Reggie likes Jenny alot and want to take her to the future. Jake takes Reggie and gonna attack the human fort. He tell Reggie he is from factory bred for eating and the whole flock help him escape with 3 eggs to start a new life.

He escape but the eggs are taken away by the human. That's when the great turkey appear and give him a door knob, telling him not to give up. The duo attack in the town and destroy the weapon shed.

Jake took Standish horn as victory prize. But while escaping the horn leak out gun powder trail. Standish light the trail and found their place. Many turkeys are caught. Jenny and Reggie go back to the nursery but Jake already saved them all.

Broadbeak save them from the falling branch and they jump down to the pool and sacrifice himself. Jenny is the new chief as chosen by her father. She want to fight back. Reggie left alone travel back to future.

Then he met 2 of his own future self telling him to go back. Reggie is in fact the great turkey who tell young Jake what he must do. The turkey attack the fort and Standish fires cannons. Reggie arrive in time and suck up the cannons.

He bring forth pizzas for the people. Turkeys and humans eat pizza in peace. Bradford thanks Reggie and invented the word Thanksgiving. Jake board STEVE and Reggie stay behind to be with Jenny. Credit halfway, Jake return carrying a chicken and a duck, warning them about a Turducken.
