Review of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991) by Issa G — 05 Nov 2017
An insult of a movie that disrespects not only the franchise but horror movies in general. The acting is unappealing, granted they don't have much material to work with, and even Robert Englund gives a half-hearted performance.
Behind the camera, director Rachel Talay turns 'Nightmare' into a cartoon with no scares whatsoever or characters when even care about. While it's claimed that much of the problem was a reduced budget, that doesn't excuse how bad this film is (the original story is credited to Talay).
Sadly, there is the germ of a good movie in this dreck, with the idea of trying to find a way to destroy Freddy Krueger through his daughter. That is not this film though, which is just a piece of trash only worth viewing if you are an absolute die-hard fan (or just bought the whole DVD/Blu-Ray set and feel obligated to watch the whole thing).
Otherwise, avoid at all costs.
