Review of Fred Claus (2007) by Chris O — 19 Jun 2009
You know what? Everybody can suck my dick 'cause I liked this one. The story's outrageously obvious but it's heartwarming and in the end, isn't that what Christmas is all about: Two hours of tricking yourself into thinking you're not a horrid, filthy piece of scum because you feel for a guy who loves orphans? The celebrity heads posted on the tiny bodies thing was just weird though.
In the end though I think the irony of Kevin Spacey (whose story you can see coming a mile away) only wanting a Superman cape (then wearing it and adopting a heroic pose, of course) far outweighs any strange CGI-terrors this film devised.
And the Siblings Anonymous scene, though really pointless, is pretty funny in the long run. Fred Claus is a better movie than people give it credit for.
