Review of Fred Claus (2007) by Lee G — 10 Dec 2009
When you make Santa real, the magic disappears very quickly if you're not careful. I don't want to know that Santa has an eating disorder brought on by too much stress. It was supposed to be funny, but I didn't laugh hardly enough to make it worth while.
There are moments of sheer slapstick that just don't fit with the serious and very real ramifications of the story. In addition, Vince Vaughn feels miscast in this. However, there is a hilarious segment about "Siblings Anonymous" that is everything that this movie could have been, but wasn't.
Do yourself a favour and see a better film, like "Miracle on 34th Street" or "Elf".
