A decent enough Christmas film that does just enough to instill some Yuletide cheer into it's viewers but won't become a cherished Christmas classic in years to come. Vince Vaughn is Fred Claus, black sheep brother to Paul Giamiatti's good natured Santa Claus.
I'm always a fan of Vaugn's motor-mouth, pop-culture laden style, but this feels like the wrong outlet for it. He also lacks a decent sparring partner for his antics. That being said, Fred Claus has enough humerous moments (Ludacris as a DJ-ing elf amused me, rightly or wrongly) and Christmas spirit to warrant a watch this holiday season, as well as having a nice, if muddled, moral message at it's core.
