Review of Fred Claus (2007) by Chelsea K — 20 Jun 2010
Fred Claus is an average Christmas film that stars Vince "I can only play one character" Vaughan as the titular Fred, the bitter brother of Santa Claus. Looking to make some money off his brother, he is forced to move to the North Pole where, though circumstances involving a "Christmas Inspector" played by Kevin Spacey, he is forced to save Christmas and his brother?s job.
It does have some good laughs here and there but most of them are surrounded by mediocrity and ridiculous set ups. The sets are all great and the usual Christmas clichés are here in abundance but it's the tired writing and the seen it all before plot that makes this film distinctly average.
There are much better Christmas films out there so you're better off avoiding this one.
