With such a stellar cast this should have been so much better. However it's not a terrible film and I enjoyed it whilst watching it. It's only afterwards that I thought there was a lot more potential for comedy here.
The film doesn't seem to know who its target audience is. The humour isn't strong enough for either adults or children and Vaughn has a hard job making his character likable. The best thing about the film is Giamatti (isn't it always!) and his scenes with Spacey are funny and (towards the end) moving.
Overall and decent christmas film but it's never going to be a classic.
