Review of Fred Claus (2007) by Katrina B — 02 May 2011
This was a harmless, family fun Christmas movie. I was a little worried when I saw that Paul Giamatti (I just couldn't imagine him in this role) was gonna be the Santa but he was actually pretty good.
Vince Vaughn was his usual self and proves that he can be funny in a PG movie, a far cry from his Wedding Crashers jokes but he was still pretty likeable and hilarious. This movie is nothing special but it's not bad by any means.
It's actually different from other movies since it focused on the brother of Santa more than Santa himself...but in the end it's just the same Christmas story. It had a good message and some pretty funny moments that many kids and adults will enjoy.
A good family film, but nothing much more. If you generally enjoy Christmas movies, give this one a go. 6/10.
