Review of Freaky Friday (1976) by Jordan K — 04 Aug 2014
Freaky Friday is the first of many bad Disney films featuring Lindsay Lohan - luckily this one is the best out of any. However, the film really tries to appeal to punk rockers or hip teens, and maybe a film about the essence of family isn't the best way to present that.
Anna and her mom Tess usually argue a bunch on how Tess ruins her life (which she, might I add, says about 5 or 6 times just in the first half hour). A supernatural occurrence in an Asian restaurant switches the two's bodies, so now Anna is her stressed out workaholic mother and Tess is her punky daughter. The mischief only ensues when preparing for Tess' wedding!
Freaky Friday is an interesting movie, and it's not awful. It's interesting to see what the characters will do as another person in different situations - usually Anna makes her mother appear to be a party chick, and that's kinda funny when not overused. However, the film has so many annoying little family drama parts to it (constant fighting, dealing with Tess' fiancee who's also that guy from NCIS, annoying little brother, etc.) that it's not exactly memorable. But, really, when was ANY live action Disney film memorable?
