Review of Freaks (1932) by Arya S — 16 Sep 2008
The only reason this movie didn't offend me is because Tod Browning directed it. I think the last 10 minutes of this movie are the easiest to misinterpret, because it contrasts so drastically from the tone of the rest of the movie.
I believe I understand why, with respect to his history, Browning felt it was necessary to add this exaggeratedly unrealistic scene, but for the general movie-goer, I feel that it refutes the initial tone stated in the film.
