A truly creepy movie. Yes, it walks a fine line of possible exploitation, but what else would you expect from a movie called "Freaks?" I don't know that it ever crosses that line though. The side show characters are presented as fully dimensional people and in a very sympathetic light.
It's a fascinating community to explore - and one that will probably never be captured on film ever again. In any case the movie shows what happens if you don't treat them with respect. You'll turn into a.
