Review of Freaks (1932) by Owen P — 23 Aug 2009
A rather shocking tale of circus sideshow "Freaks" and the lengths they go to in order to protect their own. Director Tod Browning ('Dracula') shows a steady hand, generating sympathy for the characters, some of whom are genuinely shocking to behold.
The film remains effective despite the fact that almost a third of the movie has been lost since its premiere.
