Review of Freaks (1932) by Giovanni P — 08 Oct 2009
Unlike "normal" people, "freaks" have their own code of ethics : "their rules are rigidly adhered to and the hurt of one is the hurt of all; the joy of one is the joy of all". Instead of fighting each other, they stand up as a family.
The absence of make up effects contributes to make "Freaks" a deeply moving film - classifying it simply as a Horror is ridiculously reductive.
