Review of Freaks (1932) by Nicky M — 05 Oct 2008
In the golden age of horror movies Tod Browning's Freaks stands out. Considering that it got banned at the time, I would believe that a true sense of horror must of hit those initial audiences as this is a truly disturbing film now, much less in 1932. Real "freaks" are used in the filming and while they have little or no acting ability, some of their deformities stand out and make this all more real. As we have become more jaded, view this film as horror history and what it has led to in today's cinema.
