Review of Freakonomics (2010) by Liam R — 21 Sep 2010
Caught a sneak preview in Seattle. Ultimately, I think the film goes better in book form. The illustrations feel a bit contrite and the movie feels like it's trying too hard. I do like the fact, however, that Levitt and Dubner are two very funny and personable guys.
The best part is the last segment where they go inside a high school and incentivize 9th graders to get better grades. There are definitely some characters in that one. The worst segment is probably the sumo wrestler one, it tries to cover too many themes and ultimately drags on too long.
