Review of Freakonomics (2010) by Derek C — 16 Jan 2011
Has the feeling of reading the Cliff's Notes version of the book (which it's based). Though segments are well done, they lack much of a relationship as a whole. I really enjoyed Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady's look at the effects of providing financial incentive to Chicago-city kids that improve their grades.
As a whole, it's a good trailer for reading the book, but the film barely cracks the surface. In this case, if your book club is reading "Freakonomics" this week, don't rent the movie.
It's won't serve you well in the discussion, unless you're just there to pick up girls.
