Review of Frantic (1988) by Daniel K — 28 Mar 2010
2: This is the kind of picture that doesn't get made much anymore. It's a straight forward drama/suspense genre star-vehicle. Harrison Ford dominates the screen and definitely knows this character.
He seems to be pretty good at getting roughed about on screen. He's very capable of playing an average guy with not much more than average skills, but he manages to make you believe he can rise to the occasion and get the job done under extraordinary circumstances.
He certainly has star quality. This is a pretty average and forgettable picture for him, but it was reasonably entertaining. I didn't get much of a sense of place though. It seems as if it basically could have taken place anywhere.
The story isn't too far fetched, which is a plus, but it also isn't an edge-of-your-seat nail biter.
