Review of Frankenweenie (2012) by Kyle H — 11 Feb 2013
Frankenweenie is another Tim Burton must watch. This Oscar nominated film is not some big extravaganza of soon to be a legendary classic like other films on his resume such as Nightmare Before Christmas or Big FIsh.
But that is not a bad thing, this cute little movie can make you feel your heartbeats. What makes this movie a four star movie and not a 3 and a half star movie is the characters! Although Victor and his parents arent the best leads to have mainly because they arent memorable in the slightest and are very 2D in depth the rest of the cast(some never even named) are really cool and gothic! The animals in the film are wicked, Sparky the little harry version of Frankenstein is absolutely lovable and so is the weird girls bug eyed cat to the bride of Frankenstein poodle! The children are so crazy memorable you just want them to have a spin-off but Tim Burton doesnt give us the satisfaction of seeing them on screen as much as we would like.
There's also this slight racisim that gets so exaggerated its hilarious. But this small little movie is cute, heartwarming and defiantly that refreshing movie Burton needed to put out. This is the best animated film of 2012.
