Review of Frankenweenie (2012) by Indranil N — 13 Feb 2013
Finally Tim Burton made a film which his more Burton ..if we can say that..
It's true that it is a remake of his own short film named the same, but the new take with stop motion animation glides the story to a more romantic and nostalgic feeling than what it was or would have been with the use of real actors..
The characters are quirky and their look add a almost hipnotic gaze to the simple revisit of the Frankenstain's Monster story..
The main character is a kid, an outsider, introvert scientist who ends up bringing back to life his dead dog..but more monstrosities will come up..
The mivie is very enjoyable, and for movie lovers watching this black and white animation full of reference to the most infamous universal's monsters of the 50s and more, is a real treat!
In our opinion Amongst all the stop motion movies that Burton has made, this one is more close to the magic of the nightmare before Christmas.
Watch it a be scared in the most naive fun way.
