Review of Frankenweenie (2012) by Monique C — 27 Sep 2013
Tim Burton expands his brilliant short film, which Disney originally deemed to weird to be show as a short before one of their feature films. Now that Burton is an established brand, he's thankfully allowed to be as weird as he wants.
The story sticks pretty close to the original short, but is expanded with a few new characters and and adding a school setting, but it's stays true to the original oddball heartwarming children's version of Mary Shelly's "Frankenstein".
Burton has assembled a number of his regular stock company to supply the voices, including Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short and Martin Landau. Essential viewing for Burton fans and likely to be enjoyed by most anyone else who'd be inclined to watch an animated film.
