Review of Frankenweenie (2012) by Shane M — 12 Nov 2013
The best Tim Burton film of 2012. After the critical failures of "Dark Shadows" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", Burton released a film that says "Tim Burton". A remake of his 1984 live-action short film of the same name, Burton adds new things to make his film 100% likeable and worth seeing.
The film's use of stop-motion animation reveals amazing animation techniques, as well as creating an interesting sense of style that Tim Burton has done before, and the use of a black-and-white background perfectly depicts the tone of the story.
The film also benefits from a bizarre style, a dark tone, a heartfelt story, bizarre and interesting characters, a couple of scares, lots of laughs, and being the perfect parody of "Frankenstein".
The film also benefits from its amazing voice acting, as well as the contributions made from involved Burton collaborators like Winona Ryder, and composer Danny Elfman. The soundtrack also depicts the tone perfectly with its tense themes.
A Tim Burton film for the family, and perfect for watching on Halloween.
