Review of Frankenweenie (2012) by Arnee G — 03 May 2014
My friends and I love to watch stop-motion animation movies, so we decided to go and see Frankenweenie. It was not a choice I regret. I loved it! and so did my friends. The movie was all around great!
1. Story line.
This movie is about a young boy whose dog (his dog) dies, after this heart break he decides to bring his dog back from the dead. I at first thought this was Disney's attempt to ruin a good Frankenstein classic, but I was mistaken. It was a good story line, not focused on the "angry villagers" but on a different base then the original Frankenstein.
2. Stop-Motion Animation:
This movie was created using an artistic method, Stop- motion animation. So a lot more time was taken making this movie then a normal drawn animation, a lot more attention to detail, and more likely to have mistakes. I found this movie had no mistakes in the animation! it was great.
3. Color or Black and white:
An odd decision was make for this movie, the question was color or black and white? They choose black and white, I personally like the black and white animation. I thought it was a good choice for the style of movie being created.
4. Characters:
The main characters were Victor Frankenstein and his dog Sparky, based on the classic boy and dog relationship. There was also Edgar "E" Gore, Weird Girl, and Elsa Van Helsing (Victors friends) Each had a distinct personality which is good in a movie rather than everyone being a photocopy.
5. Genre:
The movie Frankinweenie is diverse bunch of genres. It is a combination of Horror, Comedy, Sci-Fi, and Family. The Genius behind this was Tim Burton of course. If you like any of the genres listed this is a good movie for you.
Summary: This movie is a family, comedy, thriller, and Sci-Fi film. Using Stop-motion animation and in black and white. It was a good movie all together and I recommend it for not just families but anyone who enjoys a good movie.
