Review of Frankenweenie (2012) by Alex F — 02 Mar 2015
Remake or a re-imagining of Tim Burton's short film Frankenweenie (1984).
Tim Burton, director of Edward Scissorhands re-unites with Wynona Ryder in Disney's Frankenweenie, using the popular stop-motion animation that has become highly popular in recent years, Burton brings his unique-Gothic style to a family-friendly film about a boy who brings his dog back to life, with a homage to the Original Frankenstein, based on Mary Shelly's novel.
Stop-motion is a funny type of animation, Robot Chicken is my most favored output from the animation style but I personally find I get an aching head ache while watching S/M because I know each frame is someone moving the clay models, it takes a talented team to generate a good film using this format and it works well in this film; monster movie with dead pets, although I don't particularly enjoy Tim Burton's weird Gothic style this film still kept me entertained and a little sad with its tearjucking story. Family man, want something to watch with your dysfunctional family, this film will kill a good hour and twenty, ITS ALIIVVEEEEE!
