Review of Frankenhooker (1990) by Bryan W — 02 May 2008
This movie is so in the style of Frank Henenlotter its ridiculous, it has the same drag along as Basket Case did.
Where a lot could be going on, and a lot more could be explained but he refuses to delve into that and just kind of jerk along your interest until the WTF did I watch ending.
It wasn't a bad film, but it wasn't a great film either.
I thought the effects were mediocre at best, the dialogue of Jeffrey (The mad scientist electrician) was kind of boring actually.
There were (as I said) a lot of things left unexplored.
Such as what happened to Elizabeth's family, why Jeffrey's mother was suddenly written out, how the hookers body parts became rejects from the scrap department of "Re-Animator 2".
And why most of the film surrounded around random Hookers and Super Crack.
For a film called Frankenhooker, there wasn't much of her really even in the film till a half hour towards the end.
I thought Patty Mullen was cute and hilarious, she has such awesome facial expressions, and she's a really good physical actress.
The music was pretty good, considering the film was way out there in left field.
The sets were well designed but seemed extremely cramped so I would guess that may have been a budget problem.
I wasn't really satisfied with the ending, where Jeffrey's a reanimated Hooker with a man's head.
But it was basically to be expected after he said he could only reanimate women.
All in all I was basically satisfied with the film, but its probably not one I will watch again anytime soon.
