Review of Frank (2014) by Shae S — 06 Jul 2015
This movie was definitley a little different than most I have seen. You have an inspiring keyboard player get a chance to play in a band with a strange lead singer who wears a fake head around. Yes thats the basic black and white of the movie.
The movie takes the strange and weird band and their wacky members to a few cabins in the wilderness to create an album unknown to Jon the aspiring musician. What transpires is a cult following and a chance to take their talents to a festival gig.
I can't really say more without giving things away. The movie basically deals with artistry and staying true to your roots. Also I found it dealing with how troubled people can find normalcy in a craft they excel in.
There was some heart here despite the quirky, and offbeat comedy. Big props to Fassbender for taking this role as we only see him for a very limited time on the big screen. A movie that is extremely unique, that deals with not changing who you are, and being different is sometimes normal.
I loved it due to its originality.
