Review of Frances Ha (2013) by Eric G — 05 Aug 2013
Heavily inspired by Francois Truffaut and the French new wave (photography, music, story), it lacks its candor and freshness. 50 years later, it doesn't feel as innovative. It's not enough to film in black and white, have bohemian 20 something characters drift through the streets of NY or Paris.
The film is like its main character: rambling that go nowhere and quickly become irritating and boring. Better watch one of the originals.
