Review of Frances Ha (2013) by Jeff F — 09 Nov 2013
Scripted by Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, 'Frances Ha' is smart, petite, and lovably scrappy.
At 86 minutes, it is brilliantly composed - as much a love letter to the star herself and her deft comedic abilities as it is to the classic French New Wave films that inspired it.
Gerwig's clumsy grace is sublime, and her place is assured - in this reviewer's mind at least - as the most compelling New York heroine since Annie Hall.
I don't remember the last time a film made me smile so much.
