Review of Frances Ha (2013) by Brett W — 06 Jan 2014
This film is distilled, sweetened what-could-have-been drama. Gerwig shines as an unsure free spirit who doesn't always have the best things cut out for her, but still she's perky and she perseveres.
Baumbach adds a nice subtle touch to a neat homage of French New Wave that doesn't overstay its welcome at just under 90 minutes and doesn't pass judgment on any characters involved. Look for this one.
