Baumbach shits on modern indie films by going back to basics. No shallow focus, no tracking shots, no fancy edits. Just straight classic technique and a well written script with good acting. It holds comedic value while creating a sense of longing that builds and builds tension over a carefully placed throwback soundtrack.

Makes me wanna be a single straight white woman real bad.
