Review of Frailty (2002) by Darryl K — 13 Dec 2010
Who knew Paxton was such a good director! With a chilling "Stephen King" like story, some decent performances and great directing and visuals, this B-rate thriller is able to overcome the downfalls of its genre and be a great film.
The only weak part to the film I felt was Paxton himself, as an actor that is. His customary persona (present in most of his films) just didn't seem to lend insight into this character's thinking.
With the twist ending, the film could have been ratcheted up a notch by seeing him (possibly) going mad instead of his unchanging calm misdemeanor. That aside, this is a great mystery/thriller.
